Description/What you learn:
Take a look at the interface and commonly used hotkeys for animation. How to zoom in/out, and pan around on the stage. This is just to get orientated for those of you who have never used Flash.
Exercises:
No exercise, but there is a download for this workshop. It includes a list of important hotkeys for Flash character animation. Print it out for reference (if you need it).
Flash Workshop 2: Drawing Tools and Functions
Description/What you learn:
Explore the drawing tools in Flash and their functions. Shows how to create and manipulate Flash line work, convert line to fill and make thick and thin line art. Also explains how to keep flash line work editable which benefits the animation process.
Exercises:
Download and open the file. Using the line tool, trace provided images. Convert the line to fill and give it a thick and thin line quality. (Feel free to practice with the brush tool if you have a tablet or cintiq). There is a variety of images in the file so take your pick, do them all, or scan in your own drawing!
Flash Workshop 3: Intro to Flash Animation and Symbols
Description/What you learn:
Turn a circle into a symbol so that it can be animated. Block out some animation and learn some basic principles and timing. We will look at how to create frames, set keys and tween. Of course, we will be bouncing a ball to learn these concepts.
Exercises:
No download for this one, but fire up a fresh Flash file and practice what you learned in the video
